Beyond Bare: A Shared Vision is an exhibition created by the Ulrich Museum of Art and Envision Arts Center that invites people to experience art in ways that go beyond just looking at it.
Instead of treating accessibility as an add-on, the exhibition makes it the starting point. It asks: What if art wasn’t only about sight? What if touch, sound, smell, and movement were just as important?
Museums have traditionally focused on visual experiences, which can leave many people out especially those with different abilities. Beyond Bare challenges that idea by highlighting artists and audiences who experience the world in diverse ways.
Beyond Bare proposes a different kind of museum one that doesn’t center only vision but embraces multiple ways of experiencing the world. It shows that when accessibility comes first, it doesn’t limit creativity, it expands it. The result is a richer, more inclusive, and more engaging way to connect with art.
