Artist Hank Willis Thomas

Hank Willis Thomas is a conceptual artist working primarily with themes related to perspective, identity, media, and popular culture. He is also the co-founder of For Freedoms, a platform for creative civic engagement, discourse, and direct action. Willis' I Am a Man is featured in the Ulrich + Artists + You Community Billboard Project July - November. As an artist, author and curator Dr. Deborah Willis' art and pioneering research has focused on cultural histories envisioning the black body, women and gender. She is a celebrated photographer, acclaimed historian of photography, MacArthur and Guggenheim Fellow, and University Professor and Chair of the Department of Photography & Imaging at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. Willis’ billboard is on view at 308 N. West St. Registration is required.
