Love is Memory is a free community engagement workshop presented by Wichita artist Micala Gingrich Gaylord in conjunction with The Big Read 2023, a program across several Wichita institutions designed to revitalize the role of reading in American culture and engage participants with ideas about active aging. This workshop will focus on the way objects house memories and will be held from noon to 2 p.m., Thursday, March 2 at the Ulrich Museum. Elders are invited to bring a small object they are willing to leave behind that represents a memory of love. The object should fit on an 8"-by-8" board. Attendees will also make a short audio recording about their object during the workshop. The object and voice recording will become part of a larger community art piece which will be on view in the exhibition Micala Gingrich Gaylord: Love Is Memory, April 3-May 20 at the Ulrich Museum of Art.
