A man indicates an area in an artwork as he lectures.

In this talk, Dr. Emmanuel Ortega from the University of Illinois-Chicago, will provide an art historical overview of Justin Favela’s career, highlighting the key moments that led to the creation of the installation currently on display. As Favela’s longtime friend and collaborator, Dr. Ortega brings a deep understanding of the artist’s work and offers unique insights into the hidden layers of meaning within Favela’s paper-based sculptures and installations. This free event starts at 6 p.m. and takes place in McKnight Art Center, Room 210. Everyone is welcome.
