Keith Pickus is a professor of modern European and contemporary history at Wichita State University, where he has been on faculty since 1995. Keith completed his Ph.D. in modern German and Jewish history at the University of Washington and has written and lectured about Jewish identity, the processes of acculturation and the Holocaust. His current teaching interests focus on contemporary history and the Holocaust.
Professor Pickus spent 19 years as a university administrator before returning to a full-time faculty role in fall, 2020, and his most recent position was Vice President of Development for the Wichita State University Foundation. He was a Fulbright Research scholar in Germany (1998-99) and spent a year of his doctoral program at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
Keith is married to Deirdre O’Farrell, a licensed speech therapist, and they have three adult daughters, Maeve, Lila and Claire.
