Kate M. Nicholson, J.D.

Kate M. Nicholson, J.D. is the founder and Executive Director of the National Pain Advocacy Center, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing the health and human rights of people with pain. For eighteen years, she worked as a civil rights attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, Guardian, Washington Post, NBC News, Scientific American, Newsweek, Los Angeles Times, and ACLU’s At Liberty, among others, and she is a frequent opinion writer. Nicholson is a founding Board Member of Tilt West, a Denver-based arts nonprofit. She previously served on the Board and Collecting Committee for the Art Museum at the University of Colorado, Boulder, the Board of Creative Catalyzers in Boulder, and the Contemporary Acquisitions Committee for the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C.
