In addition to the Edwin A. Ulrich Museum of Art’s robust schedule of annual programs and exhibitions, the Ulrich Art Loan program (UAL), is a critical branch of the the Museum’s educational mission to connect people to stories and learning experiences through modern and contemporary works of art that reflect our world today.
The UAL program offers select number of artworks for loan from the Museum’s permanent collection. The works may be placed, pending review, in WSU administration, faculty, and staff offices. If you are interested in participating in the program please review the following guidelines.
Please note the following new fees associated with the UAL program:
$75 loan fee per object, per one-year contract period
$150 one-time curatorial fee for requests of Ulrich staff to select works for a space
These changes go into effect immediately for all new loans, and upon contract renewal in September 2023 for existing loans.
Faculty and Staff interested in borrowing artwork should visit the Ulrich Collection Portal. Type “UAL” in the search box to view all available works. Artwork selection varies throughout the year, due to office renovations, relocations, and an ever-changing WSU population.
When you have works in mind, please submit the online request form, and a Museum staff member will contact you to schedule a visit to your proposed space (see placement criteria).
If approved, Museum staff will schedule an appointment with you to install the artwork.
If you would like to view the works in person before installation, you will need to schedule a visit to the museum with the Museum Registrar.
Please allow up to four weeks for approval, processing, and installation. Borrowers are required to remit payment and sign a loan agreement before installation.
Works from the permanent collection should be located in areas that are accessible and visible to the campus community, and must meet the security and environmental standards of the Ulrich Museum. Generally, artwork cannot be hung in an unsupervised location, near heating or air conditioning units, or places in direct sunlight. Since protection and preservation of all objects on campus are of primary importance, the Museum Registrar has the authority to determine the placement and display of artworks.
