An artist with a shaved head, round glasses and a purple tee poses in front of her colorful work.

As part of the Ulrich50 celebration, the Ulrich commissioned a new sculpture by Maine-based artist Bianca Beck, created specifically for the WSU campus as the 89th piece in the Martin H. Bush Outdoor Sculpture Collection. In connection with the April installation, Beck will give a talk discussing her work, the cornerstone of which is the body, from the imagined internal spaces of veins and organs to the dynamics of identity and expression. Her brightly colored large-scale sculptures explore the expansion of the individual in relation to collectivity, creativity, and partnership. This free event takes place in McKnight Art Center, Room 210, and everyone is welcome!
