A fake astronaut is buried in the ground.

In collaboration with the WSU Department of Anthropology’s Archaeology faculty and students, sculptor Randy Regier will give an artist’s talk in the form of a staged field demo, beside his outdoor sculpture, The Celestial Mechanic (2018). Regier will open the clear dome that encases the partially excavated figure, for a rare close look at the work, discussing his process as it connects to archeological procedures and theories. Everyone is welcome to this free 5:30 p.m. reception with a program following at 6 p.m. This event takes place outdoors on campus, near The Celestial Mechanic. Search the Martin H. Bush Outdoor Sculpture Collection section of the WSU interactive map to find the location of the sculpture.
