In his work, contemporary Chinese artist Yang Yongliang brings together a deep knowledge of traditional ink painting and contemporary digital tools, creating fantastical landscape images that comment on the rapid transformation of China’s physical environments over the course of the artist’s life. In this talk, the artist will offer an overview of his career, discuss his inspirations and motivations for making art, and lift the curtain on the technical processes involved in his more recent digital collages and animations. In celebration of the Ulrich's upcoming 50th anniversary, the Voices from the Vault speaker series features artists who are represented in our permanent collection, grouped by the decades in which their works were acquired.
