In January 2022 we lost Carol Wilson, one of our strongest and dearest supporters. Carol’s dedication to the arts in Wichita had been well known for years. For those who encountered Carol through her multiple philanthropic causes or volunteer work, the outcome was always memorable.
Carol’s dedication to the Ulrich was immeasurable. She served as the Art Committee/Advisory Board Chair from 1998 to 2001 and again from 2006 to 2010. She was active on many committees, and through the Wilson
Foundation and personal contributions supported the conservation of the Joan Miró mural Personnages Oiseaux, the acquisition of the beloved Tom Otterness sculpture Millipede, and countless exhibitions.
The Wilson family has ensured that Carol’s love for the Ulrich Museum of Art will continue to be present and vibrant for many years to come.
In Fall of 2019, Carol’s daughters Morgan Overman and Melanie Wilson, on behalf of their family, presented the Ulrich Museum of Art with a generous gift from the Wilson Foundation, placing it in the Art Matters Endowment for Exhibitions and Programs Fund to honor their mother.
The Art Matters Endowment Fund ensures ongoing educational experiences inside our gallery walls and around our Outdoor Sculpture Collection through free public programs and workshops; hands-on art projects for children and families at our Family Fun Day events; and outreach across the community.
