As part of Wichita's city-wide event line-up for The Big Read, Wichita artist Micala Gingrich Gaylord engaged with local elders, gathering personal items connected with their memories of love and activating them in the Grafly Gallery using audio recordings, creating a moving chorus of individual stories. This exhibit, Love Is Memory, on display at the Ulrich through May 20, is the subject of Micala's Senior Wednesday Artist Talk on May 17. Join us at 10 a.m. for refreshments. Starting at 10:30 a.m., Micala will share her inspirations and process in regards to Love Is Memory and answer your questions about the project. This event is free and everyone is invited.
Micala Gingrich Gaylord is a local artist, 40 under 40 recipient, and CEO of ComfortCare Homes. She has worked over the years with youth in care, incarcerated people, and elders in dementia settings.
